The Assateague Island National Seashore in both Virginia and Maryland never fails to inspire my work. Each time I visit, I leave with a renewed sense of creative energy, eager to begin a new project. Recently, I completed a graphite drawing inspired by the location.
After finishing the 4" x 6" graphite drawing, I was still enthused and decided to create a larger version (6" x 9") using graphite and India ink. My original intention was to paint the larger piece in egg tempera, but I was so pleased with the drawing that I left it as is and moved on to creating a 4" x 6" egg tempera painting, which is also featured in Recent Work. As a right-brained person, decision making is always a high-wire act!
