Hidden Creek
Egg tempera on museum board
Sold
An original 4" x 6" traditional egg tempera painting done on archival museum board. It is mounted under non-reflective museum glass with a double archival mat and a custom 13" x 15" handcrafted frame in either natural cherry or a black stained cherry.
"Hidden Creek" is painted with a combined technique using egg tempera and oil paint. The underpainting is first completed with egg tempera then it is finished with very thin glazes of oil. This approach to painting goes back to the Renaissance when oil was first introduced to artists. They were very proficient with the egg tempera medium while still experimenting with the new possibilities of using oil paint.
